Last fall, 250 friends of VFF USA gathered for Recipe for Empowerment, our annual gala and auction that raises support for our mission to empower rural India. Guests bid on spectacular silent and live auction items as they enjoyed delectable dishes provided by some of DC area’s most accomplished chefs.
We were deeply grateful to raise $100,000 to directly impact the lives of 130 female victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. These women participated in a jobs training program that prepares women for work in high-demand vocations, including tailoring, small batch cleaning supply manufacturing, and other areas. As the women complete the program this month, we anticipate that 90% will be able to support themselves and their families within three months. Thanks to your support, 130 women and families have a better future!
We’re delighted to announce that we will host the 2017 Recipe for Empowerment on Friday, October 6, at the Wonder Bread Factory, located at 641 S Street, NW, in Washington, DC. Our goal is to raise $300,000 in support of our programs areas.
