The telephone rings. It is the 1,098 time the VFF staff in India answer the urgent needs of the community using the anonymous help line. 24 hours, 7 days a week urgent calls of a wide variety come in and much needed support is given immediately. Abandoned children, victims of violence, homeless children, victims of child labor or sexual abuse, along with children and parents struggling with malnutrition can be connected to resources through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Development, local Government, and the community. Getting children, the services that keep them safe is not only a regional need, but one shared around the globe.
“The Foundation works directly and indirectly with thousands of children. We have always worked in their development, and now we work to protect them as well,” explain Krishnamachari a local staff member with pride. “Children are the national treasure of India, where more than half of the population is under the age of 18. If we cannot protect our children, then our future is not secure” she concludes.
