VFF USA Launches in the US

News - What‘s happening?

The Vicente Ferrer Foundation USA (VFF USA) is thrilled to announce the save-the date for our annual gala, “Recipe for Empowerment” as October 6th, 2017.
Are you interested in traveling to India?
For decades, the Vicente Ferrer Foundation has reached across continents and cultures to improve people’s lives. So it was only fitting to inaugurate the organization’s first U.S. office with a fundraiser featuring a rich medley of Indian, American, and Spanish flavors.
Sponsored by La Caixa Foundation, the “Recipe for Empowerment” launch event on Sept. 22 gave supporters an opportunity to party with a purpose, try flavors from around the world, and celebrate this major milestone in VFF’s history. Celebrities, philanthropists, social changemakers, and dignitaries gathered at the Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain for a beautiful evening. They sampled gourmet bites from D.C.’s top chefs, competed in an exciting, live auction, and heard a keynote address from VFF USA’s President of the Board, Moncho Ferrer.
“Today is just a small step in what we intend to do,” said Ferrer, son of the late VFF founder.
Proceeds from the event will benefit at-risk and vulnerable women in India. VFF’s program offers educational opportunities, training, and vital services to 130 women and their children so they can rebuild their lives.
If you missed the inaugural event in D.C., here’s your chance to stand up and make a difference. Please consider a donation today.
At the gala fundraiser, over 300 guests enjoyed dishes conceived and presented by top Indian, Spanish and American chefs, to symbolize VFF’s intertwined global mission. The following restaurants and chefs participated:
Rasika - Chef Vikram Sunderam
Bombay Club - Chef Nilesh Singhvi
Indique - Chef KN Vinod
The Kitchen at Blue Creek - Chef Gregory Booth
A Loving Table - Kristy Ferretti
Anxo DC - Chef Alex Vallcorba
Mitsitam Cafe - Chef Jerome Grant
Jaleo - Chef Robert Meltzer
Boqueria - Chef Marc Vidal
Punjabi Junction - Chef Jogi Hundal
VFF USA also brought India to Washington with the VFF USA Virtual Reality Experience, “The Empowered.” Multiple viewing stations positioned throughout the venue enabled guests to transport into rural India and experience firsthand the impact of VFF in those communities.
Notable guests at the event included actor Sachin Sahel and Miss Universe Canada Richa Kalra, who are both VFF USA ambassadors; Cristina Fraile, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Spanish Embassy; Enrique Sarda Valls, Spanish Consul-General in Washington, D.C.; and Jordi Folgado Ferrer, VFF’s Board Chair.
VFF USA would like to thank the incredible generosity of the title sponsor, La Caixa Foundation, as well as VIP Ballroom sponsor Ines Rosales, and other partners, including E-Clinical Services, Pogosyan Care Foundation, WeWork, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Cardenal Mendoza, and So-Grape Wines.
We would also like to thank everyone who generously contributed to the auctions, and every one of the supporters and volunteers who made Recipe for Empowerment such a success.
